Time for a Break!

It's important to know when ... and why ... to take study breaks.

Organizing ALL Your Briefs, Notes, and Course Summaries!

Do you know about Microsoft's "OneNote" program?  For those of you with papers stuffed in backpacks, several binders filled with dog-eared non-indexed notes, and piles of briefs to sort through when you sit down to compose the next segment of your course summary ... here's the answer!

Professor Steinberg "Gets It" !!!

Why in the world this little video has this horrible name, "Surviving Law School," I cannot imagine.  Would you consider hiring a lawyer who had "survived" law school?  Good grief!  I'd prefer one who achieved her personal best in law school by treating those 1000 days as the beginning of her professional career ... one who was filled with passion and a "can do" attitude from before Orientation.

What's to Learn?

Professor Vernellia Randall (University of Dayton School of Law) has been called by many, "The Godmother of Academic Support."  This lady has helped more law students understand what it means to be a law student than any person on the planet.  And that's probably not an exaggeration.

If you "Google" her, you'll find enough material to distract you from studying for several hours. So be careful.

The Horizontal View

A few years ago, a good friend of mine, Professor Dan Weddle (UMKC Law School) wrote this for the benefit of our academic support colleagues:

Essay Exam Answering

Knowing what NOT to include!

Either directly or indirectly your professor will often tell you what not to include in your essay answer.  Avoid discussing whtat the professor tells you not to discuss.

"Good Luck?" No Way!

Professor Elizabeth Stillman (Suffolk University Law School) refuses to wish her students "good luck" as they shuffle down the corridors toward their final exams. “I would say good luck," she tells them, "but you don’t need it because you have worked hard to know the material and you know how to take this exam.”

About to Enter Law School?

The months before law school are filled with anticipation – and more than a little anxiety. After all, how long have you waited for this process (the process of becoming a lawyer) to begin? Many of us have experienced that rich mix of excitement and apprehension.
